FILM SYNOPSIS

Set in 1963, a village in Nagaland remains one of the last bastions of the headhunters. A former village chief and his son, the only two remaining people to follow their ancient faith, live in isolation as they struggle to exist in a changing world.

Theja Rio | Director

Theja Rio is a filmmaker from Nagaland, India, and an alumnus of the London Film School. His work focuses on themes of identity and tradition in a changing world. Rio's film Angh showcases his commitment to rich, indigenous storytelling, reflecting his desire to share Nagamese heritage with global audiences while preserving cultural authenticity.

His films have achieved international recognition, screening at prestigious venues including the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, Palm Springs ShortFest, and the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles.

These accolades highlight his ability to translate local narratives into cinematic experiences that resonate across borders.

Rio prioritizes a visually immersive approach, opting for 16mm film to capture the raw textures of his homeland. By focusing on rural life and historical transitions, he aims to create a window into the lived experiences of the Naga people, ensuring their unique stories are told with dignity and depth through his directorial lens.

Nancy Nisa Beso | Producer

Nancy Nisa Beso is an accomplished film producer
based in India and the UK, recognized for her versatility
in both indie and commercial cinema. A film graduate
from the University of Westminster, London, her journey
in media began at a young age with local radio and
television. This early experience set the foundation for a
successful career working with leading broadcasters,
film studios, and advertising agencies. 

Her films have gained recognition at international film
festivals, with her latest short film, Ade (On a Sunday),
premiering at the Rotterdam Film Festival and winning
Best Film at the 2024 MAMI International Film Festival. 
With over 10 feature films, 100 TV commercials and
150 digital branded content projects to her credit,
Nancy’s extensive production knowledge and
collaborative approach bring out the best in her team,
making each project a rewarding experience for all
involved
